UWC Welcomes Its First-Ever Bahraini Scholar
In August 2009, Yasser Fadhel Hammadi became the first-ever UWC scholar from Bahrain and the GCC. Yasser was awarded a full scholarship to live and study for two years at UWC-USA in New Mexico, USA with young people from more than 80 countries.
Less than four months into the school year, Yasser’s already describing UWC as the “most rewarding and wonderful experience”, and is very excited that more Bahrainis will get this opportunity in 2010.
Yasser reports that he has a busy class schedule as he is studying Economics, History, Biology, English, Arabic and Maths towards the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. He is also involved in many co-curricular activities including community and wilderness service, Model United Nations, play writing, and a number of sports.
Yasser is expected to graduate in May, 2011, to join a 40,000 person strong community of UWC graduates.
